And, it's truly amazing how quick they "vanish" in to thin air! Lol!
Yield: As many as you wish to make!
Whole Black Peppercorns
Shredded Parmesan Cheese (Do not use the finely grated cheese in shakers!!)
small shot glasses? (For shaping)
Preheat oven to 350F
1) On a silpat or foil lined sheet tray, simply place some shredded parmesan cheese, (about the size of a biscuit, or a bit larger), in a somewhat round shape- making as many, or as few as you desire.
2) Take the whole peppercorns, and simply place 2 for the "eyes" a bit lower on the circle, (below the middle). See above picture for reference.
3) Bake at 350F for about 4-6min. (You want the cheese completely melted, but don't want it to turn brown around the edges!)
4) Remove from the oven. Wait about 30 sec. Although you want to be careful not to burn yourself, you need to shape the cheese while it's still hot. Using a flat metal spatula, pull up a crisp at a time, and manually shape it like a ghost, placing it on a plate, or sheet tray when you've shaped it. (You can also try laying them over small shot glasses as well, or something similar.) If the crisps are getting to hard, place back in the oven for about 30 sec. or so to re-soften it, remove from oven, and shape.
And voila- your ghostly crisps are done!
